EPD Russia Licensee Contract Terminated after the Halt of EPD Activities in Russia
The licensee contract of EPD Russia would not be prolonged after April 12, 2024 — a decision made in light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) published via EPD Russia before May 24, 2024, will remain valid until May 24, 2025.
On April 12, 2024, EPD International AB has decided not to renew the licensee contract with EPD Russia, in light of the continued uncertainties surrounding the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Existing published Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) via EPD Russia’s ad hoc standalone database before May 24, 2024, will retain their validity, but will be deregistered from the EPD Russia website no later than May 24, 2025. During this transition period, these EPDs cannot be transferred to the EPD International’s EPD Portal, or to database of any other programme. EPD Russia is responsible for ensuring the deregistration and subsequent inaccessibility of these EPDs, as well as the closure of the EPD Russia website by the specified date.
This is a difficult decision EPD International AB had to make following the previous action in ceasing all direct and indirect sales activities of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for Russian manufacturers and service providers on March 2, 2022, until further notice. The decision was made in response to the outbreak of Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Since the decision in 2022 came into effect, no new EPDs from organisations domiciled in Russia or controlled by entities or persons under sanctions have been accepted by EPD International. As a temporary measure, Russian clients were only permitted to publish their EPDs through EPD Russia’s standalone database, and would remain valid before being deregistered by May 24, 2025.
EPD International AB extends its gratitude to the EPD Russia team for their professionalism and wishes them success in their future endeavors.
