UK Average CEM I sector EPD
Product information
The Mineral Products Association (MPA) is the UK trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar and silica sand industries. It covers 100% of UK cement production.
Cement is a hydraulic binder. It is a finely ground inorganic material which, when mixed with water, forms a paste which sets and hardens by means of hydration reactions and processes. After hardening, it retains its strength and stability even under water.
This declared CEM I cement is a sector average EPD, modelled using aggregated data from all MPA member sites which manufacture cement. It covers 100% of CEM I produced in the UK.
In the UK, secondary cementitious materials (SCMs), such as Fly Ash or GGBS, are typically added after the cement has left the factory, at the concrete mixing plant.
