What's your background?

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Polymer Engineering. Following the completion of my PhD studies, I pursued postdoctoral research where I explored the environmental impacts of early-stage chemical processes according to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach. In addition, I have an experience in integrating a life-cycle perspective into public procurement, including the strategy for measuring and reducing embodied carbon across the supply chain of government procurement.

What do you look forward to work with?

I am very excited to work on LCA/EPD implementation along with high standard of verification and quality assurance. As a researcher, I have always wanted to 'close the gap' between academic LCA studies and the performance of LCA in industry. I feel privileged to receive the opportunity to apply LCA methodology through high standardization of EPD and PCR validation.

Do you have any predictions for the future of EPDs?

I predict that the performance of EPDs will expand to more products and services in the market and will undergo deep validation and quality assurance for credibility confirmation. As EPDs based on unified PCRs in similar categories will continue to evolve, it will enable a better comparison of various products and services.

This will put us on a path towards an environmental future where a full life cycle perspective is considered. One of the major challenges existed in LCA studies today is providing not only a quantitative environmental performance, but also forming it to a reliable and comparable data. Therefore, I am thrilled to be part of the designing and formation of existed and future EPDs in compliance and quality assurance.
