The Secretariat of EPD Intl. announces that the grace period for PCR 2019:14 version 1.11 is extended to August 1, 2023.

This second prolongation is valid to all our markets. Necessity of this decision is twofold: lacking market readiness in selected markets and unforeseen technical challenges.
The Secretariat regrets to inform that this prolonged grace period will result in an unfortunate situation in which three different versions of PCR 2019:14 are valid during a limited transition period. Until July 31, 2023, PCR 2019:14 version 1.11 (GPI 3.01) remains valid next to the latest published version 1.2.5, soon accompanied by version 1.3 (both GPI 4). Publication of version 1.3 is planned for mid-April and contains important updates and clarifications for LCA practitioners.
The Secretariat recommends all our clients to always use the latest valid version of our PCRs, because it responds best to ongoing market developments. This it to assure that your EPDs are prepared for future market needs and will find broadest acceptance.
The Secretariat continues receiving concerns from few selected markets struggling to provide the quality EPD Services we expect when publishing EPDs with our International EPD System. In response, the Secretariat decided to provide the necessary support and offer all our clients a new, globally available solution. This solution, with improved functionality of our EPD Portal, will make the publication and updates of various EPDs simpler, more senseful and cost efficient. The release date of this solution will be announced a.s.a.p.
Sebastiaan Stiller, CEO EPD Intl., comments: “*This new solution will provide an excellent alternative to clients who plan to publish various product and project specific EPDs, but currently lack the required digital infrastructure. The solution makes the upload of an EPD document in .pdf format obsolete. Instead, the EPD Portal will generate (in .pdf a/o machine-readable format) the publicly available EPD on demand. We will ask clients to add the mandatory data to the EPD Portal either manually or via an API, which they for later EPDs can recycle. A critical investment in our digitalisation efforts; a solution we need to trust blindly. Especially considering that regulators will increasingly require digitised product and project specific EPDs.*”
EPD International aims for any organization, no matter its size, location, and industry to be able to publish quality EPDs in our International EPD System in an as sensible, simple, and affordable way.
