EPD International support sustainable development of the Chinese automotive industry
On December 15th, the "China Automotive Industry Dual Carbon International Cooperation Conference" was convened in Beijing. Xu Min, director of the International EPD System China Center, delivered a keynote speech at the conference and awarded EPD certificates to Geely and Changan Automobile.
The conference was initiated by China Merchants Testing Vehicle Technology Research Institute CO. ltd (CMVR) with the aim to encourage the automotive industry to engage in global green transformation. This collective effort aims to pursue carbon neutrality goals and make substantial contributions to addressing the challenges of global climate change.
As the largest and most widely registered EPD system globally, the International EPD System is willing to support the sustainable development of China's automotive industry. Sebastiaan Stiller, CEO EPD International, states:
- CMVR's leadership in developing a Product Category Rules (PCR) for automotive products and promoting EPDs has played a pivotal role, and we look forward to conducting more comprehensive and in-depth collaborations with CMVR. We also hope to see more industry enterprises, like Geely and Changan, engaging in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and EPD practices.
The International EPD System aims to collaborate with partners to enhance industry awareness and recognition of EPDs. This includes promoting the convergence and mutual recognition of domestic and international standards, injecting new momentum into the internationalization of the entire Chinese automotive industry
Jin Yuming, Chief Engineer at Geely Automotive Research Institute, expressed:
- Supporting global climate action and creating a responsible and sustainable entire value chain are crucial components of Geely's sustainable development. The EPD for the recently developed Lynk & Co 01, registered in the International EPD System, reflects Geely's continuous efforts to integrate green and environmentally friendly principles throughout the product's lifecycle. Geely aims to achieve this by reducing environmental impact through the development and innovative application of green technologies
Xu Xiaomin, Vice Manager of Changan Automotive Engineering Research Institute, stated
- Changan has long been actively fulfilling social responsibility, providing robust support for the industry's sustainable development. The release of the EPD report for Deepal S07 signifies Changan's dedication to infusing green and environmentally friendly concepts throughout the product's entire life cycle. This is achieved through the research and innovation of green technologies, aiming to comprehensively reduce the environmental impact of the product's life cycle.
