PCR description

This c-PCR (based on NPCR 029) validity is extended until 2026-12-31.

“PCR – Part B for photovoltaic modules used in the building and construction industry, including production of cell, wafer, ingot block, solar grade silicon, solar substrates, solar superstrates and other solar grade semiconductor materials” (NPCR 029 version 1.2) of EPD Norway has been adopted as a c-PCR to PCR 2019:14 of the International EPD System, with the following additional clarifications, specifications and restrictions:

' The PCR is applicable not only for PV modules (and parts thereof) used in the building and construction industry, but also for standalone modules mounted on ground.

· All references to “NPCR part A” or “Part A” are replaced with references to PCR 2019:14. Particularly note that: If a functional unit is used, the EPD shall provide information on how to convert this unit to one or more declared units.

· If there is an applicable UN CPC code for the product, it shall be stated in the EPD (in the product description section).

· For rules on using proxy data, see further requirements in PCR 2019:14.

· For cut-off rules, PCR 2019:14 and the underlying version of the General Programme Instructions of EPD International shall be followed.

· The reference to EN 15978:2011 for guidance on developing scenarios shall be interpreted as being non-mandatory.

· The “Declaration of Dangerous substances” to be included in the Additional information section shall be interpreted as being non-mandatory. See also mandatory requirements in Section 5.3.4 of PCR 2019:14 on content declaration.

· Biogenic carbon shall be reported according to PCR 2019:14.

· Instead of the guidance on electricity modelling in Section 7.4.2.1, the guidance in PCR 2019:14 shall be followed (i.e., Guarantees of Origin may be used in the modelling of electricity used in A3, and the national production mix shall not be used for processes over which the manufacturer has direct control, unless it is identical to the residual mix on the market).

· Guidance and requirements of PCR 2019:14 and EN 15804:2012+A2:2019 not referenced to in the PCR also apply.

The PCR is downloadable at NPCR 029 2022 Part B for photovoltaic modules 3103 2022.pdf .

The PCR (version 1.2) was adopted 2022-04-27 as a c-PCR under PCR 2019:14, after version 1.1 had been reviewed by the Technical Committee of EPD International acting as PCR Review Panel for the adoption process (review chair was Claudia Peña, DDERE Research & Technology) and adopted as a sub-PCR under PCR 2012:01, and version 1.2 had been reviewed by the Secretariat of EPD International. Compliance with c-PCR 2019:14 and EN 15804+A2 were considered also in the review of version 1.1, and no further review was done by the PCR Review Panel after the release of version 1.2, as the Secretariat found that the changes implemented between versions 1.1 and 1.2 were of minor character.
