Being Updated - Rolling stock and parts thereof

This PCR is Currently being updated to version 5.0.0. The update was initiated on 07/09/2026. The version of this PCR will follow GPI version 5.0.0.

The open consultation of the draft is expected in Q1 2027. Email invitations will be sent to identified stakeholders. Any stakeholder is welcome to provide comments during the open consultation.

The PCr is expected to be publsihed in Q3/Q4, 2027. The indicated dates are preliminary and subject to change,

This document provides Product Category Rules (PCR) for the assessment of the environmental performance of Rolling stock and the declaration of this performance by an EPD. The product category corresponds to UN CPC 495 Rolling stock.

This PCR is applicable for all rolling stock and refers to all types of rolling stock, e.g. locomotives, passenger carriages, goods wagons. Based on the service two major types of rolling stock can be distinguished: Passenger (A) and Freight (B), see Table 1 in the PCR. In addition, this PCR can be used to cover a reduced scope of a rolling stock such as a product group or a sub-product group as defined in section 2.2.2 if there is no specific PCR for the PG or SPG.
