First Electronics c-PCR Developed within the IES

The publication of PCR 2024:06-c-PCR-005 Industrial sensors in December 2025, marks a significant milestone as the first non-construction c-PCR developed within the International EPD System (IES). This highlights the continuous engagement and commitment of our stakeholders to advancing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) across multiple sectors.
The new complementary Product Category Rules (c-PCR) for industrial sensors represents the beginning of non-construction c-PCRs developed within the IES, adding to the four adopted c-PCRs already published under PCR 2024:06 for electronics. The development and publication of this c-PCR were made possible through the dedicated effort of the PCR Moderator, Leo Breedveld from 2B Srl, and the PCR Committee members from ABB PAMA Division and 2B Srl. Their expertise, constant commitment, and valuable time investment, were instrumental in bringing this c-PCR to publication.
The development of PCRs and c-PCRs relies on active participation of committed stakeholders who contribute as PCR Moderators and PCR Committee members, applying their technical knowledge to deliver high quality and robust PCRs.
Following this milestone, more non-construction c-PCRs within the IES are currently under development for other sectors. Ongoing work on c-PCRs on batteries, washing machines, and refrigerators, will further support future EPD development within the electronics sector.
