Thermal insulation material

This EPD describes Expanded Polystyrene foam (EPS). The closed cell structure is filled with air (98% air: only 2% polystyrene) and results in a lightweight, tough, strong, and rigid thermoplastic insulation foam. The products are used for the thermal insulation of buildings. The foam is available in various dimensions and shapes. Boards can be supplied with different edges: straight edges, half-lap joints, and vertical groves-small air gaps that allow for moisture drainage while the opposite side is flat. This EPD applies to homogeneous EPS products without material combinations or facings. The most important properties are thermal conductivity and compressive strength.
