This PCR is being updated. The open consultation took place from 2024-10-03 until 2024-11-28. After the open consultation, the draft PCR is being updated based on the comments received. After this it will be reviewed. The new version (v2.0.0) is expected to be published in March 2025.&nbsp;
The updating process was initiated 2024-04-30. This is a large update to prolong the validity with another 4 or 5 years.
The main aim of this update is to comply with General Programme Instructions (GPI) version 5.0.0 (recently published), the next versions of the ECO Platform standards (to be published late 2024), and EN 15941 (recently published).
Upon initiation of the PCR updating process, a minor update of the current version was done to prolong its validity with six months, until 2025-06-20. This means there will be a transition period until 2025-06-20 under which both version 1.3.X and version 2.0.0 are applicable.
In addition to the prolonged validity period, version 1.3.4 opens up for declaring environmental performance results based on location-based electricity modelling as additional results.This was done to answer a market need for comparability of EPDs following different electricity modelling approaches. Read more in Section 5.4.5 of the PCR.
Versions 1.3.3 and 1.3.4 do not include any changes in requirements compared to version 1.3.2, and these versions are therefore fully aligned. As such, EPDs verified after 2024-03-01 may still refer to version 1.3.2 or 1.3.3 of the PCR.
Version 1.3.2 included mainly editorial changes and clarifications, but also a few changes in requirements due to ECO Platform decisions. Therefore, versions 1.3.1 was valid in parallel to version 1.3.2 during a transition period that ended 2024-02-29.
One added requirement of version 1.3.2 took immediate effect for all applicable versions of PCR 2019:14 (i.e., also for EPDs based on v1.2.5 and v1.3.1) as of 2023-12-18 16:00 CET. This concerns the rule that free assignment of contractual instruments for electricity within an entity (e.g., a manufacturing site), producing several products and covered by a single electricity contract, is no longer allowed. The immediate effect of this rule is to comply with ECO Platform requirements. The date and time of when this rule took immediate effect, is based on when the rule was communicated to ECO Platform members (2023-12-15) plus a few days to update this text in the PCR Library.
We recommend using the newest version of the PCR.

This document serves as Product Category Rules (PCR) for Construction products. It aims to be the main way to develop and register EPDs in the International EPD System, compliant with the European standard EN 15804:2012+A2:2019/AC:2021 (Sustainability of construction works - Environmental product declarations - Core rules for the product category of construction products).
This PCR allows for an EPD to be produced either:

This is an average EPD for gypsum powder products produced in the Amphilochia plant in Greece. The LCIA results of the LCA represents the weighted average product. There is no significant differentiation among the environmental performance of each product. The products included are:

Knauf Fugenfueller Leicht and Knauf Fugenfueller Impregnated are powder materials based on gypsum and various admixtures that give the required properties for their use. The impregnated material is water repellent and has the same color as the impregnated Knauf plasterboard. They are used for the joint treatment of gypsum boards with, or without, the use of the appropriate jointing tape depending on the type of the plasterboards edges.
Knauf Perlfix is a special gypsum-based adhesive for applying gypsum boards on vertical surfaces.
Knauf FE 60 Magic is a self levelling floor screed made of calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate, portland cement, special additives, liquidators and sand of specific grain size.
Knauf FE 10 Thin is a universal self-leveling mortar, based on calcium sulfate calcium carbonate and other minor additives of selected granulometry. It is recommended for internal use, and is applied over a stable base in low thicknesses from 2mm to 10mm.
Knauf gypsum for constructions is a particularly fast-curing, high-strength special gypsum for installation and repair work. Ideal for setting and fixing electrical sockets, as well as for attaching Knauf cornice strips and Knauf plaster profiles. Suitable for filling holes and slots, it is applied on wall and ceiling surfaces internally.
Knauf Decorative gypsum is a fast-setting universal plaster suitable for making decorative plastered objects.
Gypsum Plasters Knauf MP 75L and Knauf Rotband are light and particularly efficient pre-mixed dry mortar on proven plaster gypsum basis with special light aggregates for smoothed interior surfaces.
Knauf MP 75L is specifically formulated for machine application and Knauf Rotband for hand application.
