Steel CA60 rebar, welded mesh and truss

Steel CA60 rebar, welded mesh and truss are low-carbon steel products manufactured from wire rod in wire drawing and downstream forming plants. The wire rod used as input is produced through different steelmaking routes represented in the study, including electric arc furnace routes using scrap and pig iron or hot metal inputs, a coke-based blast furnace and basic oxygen furnace route, and a charcoal-based blast furnace route combined with electric arc furnace steelmaking. These routes are followed by hot rolling and, where applicable, by cold drawing, straightening, cutting, welding or assembly operations.

The products are intended for reinforcement and construction-related applications and are supplied in rolls, bundles or packs according to product type and customer requirements. CA60 rebar may be supplied in rolls or bundles and includes identification tags for product traceability. Welded mesh and truss products are supplied in packages secured with steel bindings, which are also used for handling during loading and unloading.

Product dimensions vary according to the intended application. CA60 rebar is typically supplied in lengths of 3 m or 6 m, where applicable. Welded mesh may be supplied in rolls or panels, with dimensions defined according to product specifications and customer requirements. Truss products are supplied in packs, with lengths varying according to the intended application.

At end of life, the products can be collected, sorted and recycled as steel scrap, provided that the applicable end-of-waste and quality requirements are fulfilled.

The relevant Brazilian product standards and technical requirements include, where applicable, ABNT NBR 7477, ABNT NBR 7478, ABNT NBR 7480, ABNT NBR 7481 and ABNT NBR 14859-3. Mechanical testing may be performed according to ISO 6892, where applicable.
