The EPD covers all thickness, colour, design and pattern variations within the declared product range, provided that they fall within the same product group and are manufactured using the same production technology and formulation principles represented by the selected representative product.

Tex-Style was selected as the representative product for this product group. It was chosen because it represents the highest sales volumes within its product group, it is technically and compositionally representative of the main formulations and production processes used and it provides a realistic reflection of the environmental performance of each product range.

Tex-Style represents cushioned heterogeneous vinyl flooring with textile backing and with digitally or mechanically printed designs. Cushion vinyl floorcovering generally consists of PVC, filler, plasticizers and additives. These ingredients are mixed forming a “plastisol” paste which forms the different layers (impregnation, décor, wear, backing).

The vinyl floor covering is manufactured using a knife-over-roll coating process, where plastisol layers are applied onto a glass fibre carrier. These include an impregnation layer, a décor layer (containing titanium dioxide), a printed design layer, a wear layer, and a foamed backing layer. Each layer is cured through heating and cooling stages. The backing is expanded in an oven using a foaming agent to create the cushioned structure. If a PET textile is applied, it is baked in the plastisol backing layer by the time the sheet comes out of the oven. A final lacquer coating is applied to the surface for functional or aesthetic properties. The finished product is inspected and prepared for packaging. 

Cushion vinyl is supplied in rolls wound on cardboard tubes, wrapped in protective polypropylene (PP) film, and secured with PP plugs. Packaging materials amount to approximately 0,0464 kg per m² of product and include PE film, PP plugs, and cardboard tubes. For transport, rolls are typically handled without secondary packaging, though palletization may be used for B2B deliveries.
