Heterogeneous vinyl flooring on foam without textile backing, >2,3 kg/m²

This is an EPD of multiple products based on the representative product of the product group, and comprises the following products:

• Phoni-Xtreme (representative product) 

• Phoni-Massif

The EPD covers all thickness, colour, design and pattern variations within the declared product range, provided that they fall within the same product group and are manufactured using the same production technology and formulation principles represented by the selected representative product.

Phoni-Xtreme was selected as the representative product for this product group. It was chosen because it represents the highest sales volumes within its product group, it is technically and compositionally representative of the main formulations and production processes used and it provides a realistic reflection of the environmental performance of each product range.

Phoni-Xtreme is a heterogeneous vinyl flooring on foam without textile backing with digitally or mechanically printed designs. 

Cushion vinyl floorcovering generally consists of PVC, filler, plasticizers and additives. These ingredients are mixed forming a “plastisol” paste which forms the different layers (impregnation, décor, wear, backing).

The vinyl floor covering is produced using a knife-over-roll coating process, in which layers of plastisol (mixture of PVC, plasticizers, fillers, and additives) are applied onto a glass fibre carrier. The process includes impregnation, décor application, printing, wear layer coating, and backing application with a foaming agent to create the cushioned structure. Each layer is cured through heated chambers and cooling rolls. A final lacquer coating is applied to the surface for functional and aesthetic properties.

After production, the material is inspected and rolled onto cardboard tubes. The rolls are wrapped in LDPE film and secured with PP plugs. For transport, products may be stacked and strapped on wooden pallets, with additional cardboard used for protection. The total packaging corresponds to approximately 0,025 kg per m² and includes LDPE film, PP plugs, cardboard, and wooden pallets.
