Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV)

Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) is a flexible, high-density soundproofing membrane designed to reduce airborne noise transmission across a wide frequency range. The product is supplied in roll form, which makes it easy to cut, handle, and install on site. Its inherent flexibility allows it to be fixed on both flat and curved surfaces, enabling effective application even on complex geometries without compromising acoustic performance.

The primary function of MLV is to act as a sound barrier in building and industrial applications. It is commonly used in walls, ceilings, and flooring systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, as well as in HVAC ducts, machinery enclosures, and transport systems where noise control is required. By adding mass and density to partitions, MLV significantly improves their ability to block sound, thereby enhancing indoor acoustic comfort.

In terms of technical performance, MLV provides excellent sound reduction properties. Its Sound Transmission Class (STC) values increase steadily with frequency, ranging from 8 at 100 Hz to a peak of 58 between 2000 Hz and 3150 Hz. The product achieves an overall STC rating of 36, which indicates strong noise reduction capabilities, particularly in the mid- to high-frequency range where human sensitivity to noise is most pronounced.
