LOW-ALLOY STEEL ANNEALED BILLETS/BARS/BLOOMS
The production of annealed billets/bars/blooms begins with the arrival of the raw materials (iron Scrap, DRI, cast/pig iron, alloying elements, slag forming elements) to the plant.
The scrap iron, the slag forming elements, alloying element and, if used, the DRI or pig iron/raw cast iron, are placed in the electric arc furnace to be melted and casting to obtain the ingots.
The ingots are heated and moved to the first rolling mill for the first reduction to obtain the blooms, the blooms can be moved to the second rolling mill for the second reduction to obtain the bars and the billets. After the rolling of the blooms, billets and bars are sheared to the right length.
After the shearing the blooms/billets/bars have three possibilities:
• Can be stored and sold as black blooms/billets/bars;
• Can be grinded, stored and sold as finished blooms/billets/bars;
• Can be thermal treated, stored and sold as annealed blooms/billets/bars.
