MiRecAL® Aluminium Alloy Rods (EN AW-6101 / EN AW-6201) – R15 & R30

MiRecAL® Aluminium Alloy Rods (EN AW-6101 / EN AW-6201) are continuously cast and

rolled (CCR) aluminium alloy wire rods produced by Midal Cables B.S.C. (c) (Midal

Bahrain). The products covered by this EPD are the MiRecAL® R15 and MiRecAL® R30

variants, manufactured with 15% and 30% pre-consumer recycled content (pre-consumer

scrap), respectively, blended with primary aluminium (hot metal) supplied directly from

ALBA.

MiRecAL® alloy rods are primarily used as drawing stock by the electrical industry for the

manufacturing of overhead aluminium conductors, power cables, and specialised

transmission line components. These heat-treatable Al–Mg–Si alloy grades are designed

to provide an optimal balance between high electrical conductivity and enhanced

mechanical strength, making them suitable for power transmission and distribution

networks.

Produced in diameters ranging from Ø 9.5 mm to Ø 12.0 mm and conforming to ASTM

B233 and related international standards, MiRecAL® alloy rods are widely applied in

regional and international energy infrastructure projects where reliability, tensile

performance and corrosion resistance are critical.

Although aluminium alloy rod (e.g., EN AW-6201) is primarily supplied to the electrical

industry for wire drawing and conductor production, it is a semi-finished metallic product

that ultimately enters construction works and infrastructure assets (e.g., overhead

transmission/distribution lines and grid-related installations). Product recently on the

market – Results of this EPD shall be used with care as the LCI data is not yet based on

1 year of production which may result in increased uncertainty.
