Transitions/terminals

Hill & Smith barriers have a variety of tested and approved transitions that are designed to connect two vehicle restraint system (VRS) barrier types without compromising the performance of the systems. Hill & Smith offer 14 transition solutions tested to BSI EN1317 and designed to connect Hill & Smith VRS to temporary VRS, concrete barriers, concrete structures, bridge parapets and other steel VRS products. The non-connecting transition is designed to replace full height anchors, and also allows barriers to be installed adjacent to redundant structure that has no load bearing capacity and cannot be removed or replaced. Anchored adjacent to the redundant structure, this transition is designed to redirect an impacting vehicle away from the end of the hazard. The guardrail transitions are quick and easy to install.

Hill & Smith barriers also offer a variety of end terminals that are designed to safely terminate their barrier systems. These end terminals are crucial for minimising the risk of severe injuries and vehicle damage in the event of a collision. End terminals are classed as either P1 (roads with speed limit of <50 mph or departure ends on roads >50 mph) or P4 (roads with speed limit of >50 mph).
