Precast concrete products for civil engineering infrastructures
Structural elements for bridges (UNE-EN 15050): Precast concrete structural elements used in the construction of bridges, such as elements for the formation of decks, beams, arches, piers, imposts, etc. For bridges there are basically three types of beam elements, all of them made of prestressed concrete: I beams (or double T), U beams or trough and voussoirs or drawers. For bridge piers, piers are manufactured: vertical linear element with a solid or hollow section for the support of the bridge structures and the transmission of loads to the foundation. Made of reinforced concrete. The upper crown can be the lintel or headboard, an element that joins the shafts of the piers to provide the surface needed for the arrangement of the supports of the deck beams, with solid or lightened sections (trapezoid, pi lintels, etc.) and variable lengths to adjust to the dimensions required by the type of support of the beams or the width of the deck.
Road safety barriers (UNE-EN 1317-5): Elements that are placed on the outer and median margins of roads, tunnels and/or bridges, providing a certain level of containment to an out-of-control vehicle and reducing the severity of the accident.
Modules to host installations: Modular constructions, either from three-dimensional cells or two-dimensional panels, which are used to host facilities (transformer stations, telecommunications, etc.)
Tanks and silos: Systems designed to store water or other liquids, granular materials, etc.
Voussoirs and vaults for tunnels: Elements whose function is to form the interior structural lining of tunnels, whether for railway, road, etc., applications, and even other underground solutions for human or animal passages.
Box culverts (UNE-EN 14844): Precast reinforced concrete elements with a rectangular cross-section. They can be used for the creation of voids below ground level for the purpose of transporting or storing materials, cable galleries and underground pedestrian passages.
Earth retaining walls (UNE-EN 15258): Precast concrete elements intended for use as retaining walls for natural earth excavations and trenches; earth fills for roads or platforms; bridge abutments and their side walls; or other loose materials such as sand, gravel, etc.
Masts and poles (UNE-EN 12843): Vertical precast structures whose main function is to serve as support for other elements, such as guidance for low and medium voltage power lines, lighting support (street lamps), public address installations, antennas, wind turbines, etc.
Acoustic screens: Panels with anti-noise or sound-absorbing function, used in areas of high noise generation, such as roads or railway lines that cross urban areas.
Railway sleepers (UNE-EN 13230 y ET033605718b): Precast concrete sleepers, reinforced biblock sleepers, supports for track devices, and special elements for railway tracks. The main requirement of concrete sleepers is the transmission of vertical, transverse and longitudinal loads from the rails to the ballast or other support.
Platform edges and walls: Element that delimits pedestrian traffic areas in railway stations.
Other elements for civil engineering infrastructures: Any other precast concrete element used for the design and construction of civil engineering infrastructures, which does not fall within the above definitions.
