Floated kaolin
Product name: Floated kaolin
Product identification and description:
Kaolin is a mixture of minerals with a high kaolinite content. It is a two-layer aluminosilicate with the chemical composition Al4(OH)8Si4O10. Naturally occurring raw kaolin is a mixture of kaolinite and other components such as quartz, mica, feldspar, and other small amounts of other minerals.
In terms of origin, the localities of Kaznějov and Horní Bříza are weathered feldspars, which were washed to the site of today's mining by water from disintegrated granite massifs in past geological periods, where their kaolinization took place together with the transport of other particles, grains and pebbles of various sizes and mostly siliceous origin. It is a pseudosecondary lesion.
On the contrary, the Chlumčany deposit is a typical primary deposit, as the original parent rock and the weathering product are in the same place.
Different origin of deposits, selective extraction and different processing technologies allow the production of floated kaolin in different forms and with different quality parameters for special use in different industries under special trademarks.
