Feldspar
Product name: Feldspar
Product identification and description:
Feldspar makes up 60% of the volume of surface rocks, which is why it belongs to the most widespread group of minerals in the Earth's crust. Due to its chemical composition, which is mainly characterized by its aluminium oxide and alkali content, it finds its main application in various industries, such as flat and container glass, ceramic tiles, porcelain, glazes, etc.
Feldspars occur as potassium (KAlSi3O8), sodium (NaAlSi3O8) and calcium (CaAl2Si2O8), and can be divided into two groups: alkaline feldspars (sodium-potassium feldspars) and plagioclase (sodiumcalcium feldspars). In the Domažlice massif, sodium-calcium and sodium-potassium feldspars are extracted using the classic quarrying technique. The deposits of potassium feldspar in the Třeboň basin are alluvial feldspar gravel sands deposited in the original bed of the Lužnice River. Mining here takes place from water by a suction dredger. On the deposit of the Syrovice-Ivan terrace, there are feldspar gravel sands in the original bed of the Jihlava River. Dry mining takes place at this deposit with a bucket excavator.
