SIDPEC
Sidi Kerir Petrochemical Company (SIDPEC) manufactures high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pellets
under the trade name Egyptene. These pellets are produced through a polymerization process using
ethylene feedstock derived from natural gas or other hydrocarbons. The HDPE grades differ in terms
of their mechanical, physical, and processing properties to suit a range of industrial applications such
as film production, blow molding, injection molding, and pipe extrusion.
The present LCA study covers several grades of Egyptene HDPE pellets, which are produced at
SIDPEC’s facility in Alexandria, Egypt. All grades are delivered in pellet form and conform to
international specifications depending on their end-use. The grades analyzed in this study and their
associated properties are shown in the tables below.
