Lattice steel tower 380kV

In electrical engineering, a power line is a network infrastructure intended for the transport of high-voltage electrical energy, including both overhead power lines and cable power lines installed in special underground cable ducts.

The set of power lines constitutes the primary electricity network, on which the transmission of electricity (transmission of high voltage energy over long distances) and the distribution of electricity (transmission of medium and low voltage energy through a capillary network) are managed throughout the territory, starting from the power plants and ending with the end users via electrical substations at different voltage levels.

The nature and characteristics of power lines vary considerably, depending mainly on the operating voltage and whether the transmission is in direct current or three-phase alternating current, as well as on the choice of equipment (overhead line or cable).
