PCR description

This sub-PCR and its main-PCR (PCR 2012:01) refer to the old version of the standard EN 15804 (EN 15804:2012+A1:2013). A new main PCR was published 2019-12-20 (PCR 2019:14), referring to the new version of EN 15804 (EN 15804:2012+A2:2019). Under PCR 2019:14, complementary PCRs (c-PCR) are available for more specific product categories. These c-PCRs have replaced the sub-PCRs.

The validity period of PCR 2012:01 and its sub-PCRs (including this one) ended 2022-02-28. As of 2022-03-01, PCR 2019:14 is the only valid main PCR for construction products in the International EPD System.

“PCR – Part B for photovoltaic modules used in the building and construction industry, including production of cell, wafer, ingot block, solar grade silicon, solar substrates, solar superstrates and other solar grade semiconductor materials” (NPCR 029 version 1.1) of EPD Norway has been adopted as a sub-PCR to PCR 2012:01 of the International EPD® System, with the following additional specifications and restrictions:

· All references to EN 15804:2012 are replaced with references to EN 15804:2012+A1:2013.

· All references to “NPCR part A” or “Part A” are replaced with references to PCR 2012:01. Particularly note that: If a functional unit is used, the EPD shall provide information on how to convert this unit to one or more declared units.

· If there is an applicable UN CPC code for the product, it shall be stated in the EPD (in theproduct description section).

· For rules on using proxy data, see further requirements in PCR 2012:01.

· For cut-off rules, PCR2012:01 and the underlying version of the General Programme Instructions of EPD International© shall be followed.

· The reference to EN 15978:2011 for guidance on developing scenarios shall be interpreted as being non-mandatory.

· The “Declaration of Dangerous substances” to be included in the Additional information section shall be interpreted as being non-mandatory. See also mandatory requirements in Section 9.1.3 of PCR 2012:01 on content declaration.

· Biogenic carbon shall be reported according to PCR 2012:01.

· Guidance and requirements of PCR 2012:01 and EN 15804:2012+A1:2013 not referenced to in the PCR also apply.

Note that the PCR is compliant with EN 15804+A1 and has therefore been adopted as a sub-PCR under PCR 2012:01. As soon as the PCR has been updated to EN 15804+A2, it will also be adopted as a c-PCR under PCR 2019:14.

The PCR was adopted 2021-12-13, after being reviewed by the Technical Committee of EPD International® acting as PCR Review Panel for the adoption process. Review chair was Claudia Peña, DDERE Research & Technology.
