This Environmental Product Declaration is about Barilla’s Basilico sauce, produced in Barilla’s plant in Rubbiano (Italy), packed in 400 grams units for italian market.

In Barilla’s sauces plant located in Rubbiano (Italy), the preparation of the product is very close to what people would do at home. The process starts from sauté vegetables in oil; tomato pulp and meat are poured when vegetables are browned and herbs are added at the last moment.

After the cooking process, the sauce undergoes a heat treatment to pasteurize the product while preserving flavour and taste as much as possible over time. The pasteurization treatment, coupled with the integrity of the container, allows us to avoid using any preservatives. 

The Basilico sauce for Italian market is sold in package of 400 grams jar. The sauce may be poured directly cold on the cooked pasta or may be heated up before consumption.
