Method used to calculate residual electricity mixElectricity consumed in module A3 is modelled using the ecoinvent 3.12 dataset "Market for electricity, medium voltage – Vietnam" as implemented in One Click LCA, with a climate impact of 0.51 kg CO2 eq./kWh. No residual electricity mix is published for Vietnam; the Association of Issuing Bodies publishes residual mixes for European markets only. The LCA software used does not permit a user-defined generation mix, so a Vietnam-specific residual mix could not be constructed within the model. In accordance with GPI 5.0.1 §A.6.2, where an electricity market has no contractual instruments meeting the criteria of that section, the residual mix is taken to be identical to the consumption mix. That basis has been applied here. No contractual instrument, renewable energy certificate or guarantee of origin has been claimed for the electricity used. As a sensitivity, the conservative assumption in GPI 5.0.1 footnote 70 — the consumption mix less its renewable share — would give approximately 0.92 kg CO2 eq./kWh. Applied to the declared unit this would increase A1–A3 GWP-total by approximately 0.5 % for Copper Rod and 1.3 % for Bare Copper Wire. The declared results are therefore not materially sensitive to this choice.

Description of the system boundarya) Cradle to gate with modules C1-C4 and module D (A1-A3 + C + D).
Excluded modulesYes, there is an excluded module, or there are excluded modules
Justification for the omission of modulesBare Copper Wire is an intermediate product intended for further processing into downstream electrical conductors, cables and related products. Modules A4, A5 and B1–B7 depend on downstream distribution, processing, installation, use conditions and the final application and therefore cannot be meaningfully defined at the CFT factory-gate stage. The declared scope comprises Modules A1–A3, C1–C4 and Module D.

Additional environmental information

This EPD covers Electrolytic Tough Pitch (ETP) Bare Copper Wire manufactured by CFT VINA COPPER CO., LTD., comprising nominal diameters from CW 1.2 mm to CW 3.2 mm. All declared variants are manufactured at the same CFT facility using the same principal internally supplied ETP Copper Rod, wire-drawing route and quality-control procedures, with annealing applied where required. The declared results represent the 2025 production-weighted average environmental performance of the product group per 1,000 kg of finished Bare Copper Wire.

Approximately 1,002.753761 kg of internally supplied Copper Rod is required per declared unit. The upstream Rod resource includes the applicable burdens of primary copper cathode, externally sourced recycled copper, inbound transport and Rod manufacturing. Rod transferred internally to Wire production carries no customer-delivery Rod packaging and no external transport burden. No separate recycled-copper input is added at the Wire stage, as the secondary copper content is already embedded in the upstream Rod resource.

Customer-delivery packaging comprises corrugated-board and combined plastic packaging and is reported separately from the 1,000 kg product mass. Copper-containing production scrap returned internally to Rod melting is treated as an internal material loop. The applicable upstream Rod production scrap leaving A1–A3 for external recycling is reported as Materials for Recycling (MFR).

The declared system boundary comprises A1–A3, C1–C4 and Module D. Electricity is modelled using the ecoinvent 3.12 “Market for electricity, medium voltage – Vietnam” dataset available in One Click LCA. Module D is calculated using the net-scrap approach and is reported separately from Modules A1–C4.

Additional social and economic information

The declared Bare Copper Wire products are manufactured by CFT VINA COPPER CO., LTD. at its production facility in Dong Nai, Vietnam. Bare Copper Wire is an intermediate electrical conductor material intended for further processing into insulated conductors, power cables, communication cables and other electrical conductor products used in buildings, infrastructure and industrial applications.

This EPD provides environmental information for business-to-business communication, supply-chain assessment, responsible procurement, downstream life-cycle assessment and preparation of EPDs for finished electrical products.

The EPD addresses environmental performance in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2. It does not constitute a social, economic, occupational health and safety or legal-compliance certification. No claims of social, economic or environmental superiority are made unless supported by separate documented and independently verifiable evidence.

Description of how the averages have been determinedThe declared results represent the 2025 production-weighted average for CW 1.2 mm to CW 3.2 mm. All variants are manufactured at the same CFT facility using internally supplied ETP Copper Rod and the same principal wire-drawing route, with annealing applied where required. Utilities and common resource data are recorded at the shared Wire process level rather than separately by diameter; therefore, a common production-weighted average inventory is applied to the product group.
