Ownership and limitation on use of EPD
Limitations
EPDs within the same product category but published in different EPD programmes, may not be comparable. For two EPDs to be comparable, they shall be based on the same PCR (including the same first-digit version number) or be based on fully aligned PCRs or versions of PCRs; cover products with identical functions, technical performances and use (e.g. identical declared/functional units); have identical scope in terms of included life-cycle stages (unless the excluded life-cycle stage is demonstrated to be insignificant); apply identical impact assessment methods (including the same version of characterisation factors); and be valid at the time of comparison.

| Technology description including background system | Permoglaze Xtreme White is a high-viscosity water-based emulsion paint intended to provide a highly opaque and bright white matt finish on interior and exterior walls and ceilings. The product formulation consists primarily of water, a high-durability polymeric binder, specially selected pigments and formulation additives. The product is manufactured through the controlled formulation and blending of these constituents to achieve the required whiteness, viscosity, opacity, consistency and application performance, and is subsequently filled into containers and packaged for distribution. The background system includes the upstream production and transport of raw materials and packaging materials, the energy and utilities used at the manufacturing site, and the treatment of production waste within the modelled system boundary. The paint can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray, with water used for thinning and equipment cleaning. Depending on the application method, dilution of up to 30% may be used. The product has a spreading rate of approximately 12 m²/litre per coat. At 25°C, it is touch dry in approximately 30 minutes and hard dry within 1–3 hours. |
