Ownership and limitation on use of EPD
Limitations
EPDs within the same product category but published in different EPD programmes, may not be comparable. For two EPDs to be comparable, they shall be based on the same PCR (including the same first-digit version number) or be based on fully aligned PCRs or versions of PCRs; cover products with identical functions, technical performances and use (e.g. identical declared/functional units); have identical scope in terms of included life-cycle stages (unless the excluded life-cycle stage is demonstrated to be insignificant); apply identical impact assessment methods (including the same version of characterisation factors); and be valid at the time of comparison.
Ownership
The EPD Owner has the sole ownership, liability, and responsibility for the EPD.

| Product description | Wavin Pex-One R.I.R (Rør i Rør meaning pipe-in-pipe) is a three-layer crosslinked polyethylene (PE-Xc) pipe with an integrated EVOH oxygen diffusion barrier, pre-installed in a corrugated protective conduit. The PE-Xc pipe is manufactured from high-density polyethylene and crosslinked using the electron beam method. The corrugated conduit enables pipe replacement without damage to surrounding building structures and channels any potential leakage to visible endpoints for early detection. This product variant is supplied in 100 metre coils, dimension 15×2.5 mm with an outer conduit diameter of 25 mm. It is designed for concealed potable water and heating installations in floors, walls and ceilings. The pipe is compatible with Wavin TIGRIS press fittings (K2 in PPSU), Wavin Hep2o, Wavin Push and brass screw fittings. It is VA-approved and GDV-approved (Godkendt til drikkevand) for the Danish market. |

| Technical purpose of product | The Wavin Pex-One pipe-in-pipe is designed for the pressure supply and transport of hot and cold potable water as well as heating medium within buildings. It serves as distribution and connection piping in domestic water installations and hydronic heating systems such as radiator connections and floor heating. The EVOH oxygen barrier prevents oxygen diffusion through the pipe wall in accordance with DIN 4726, protecting iron and steel heating components from corrosion in closed circuits. The pipe operates at a maximum continuous temperature of 70 °C and a maximum short-term temperature of 95 °C at a working pressure of 10 bar. Installation is carried out using the pipe-in-pipe principle, in compliance with DS 439 (water installations) and DS 469 (heating installations). The system supports manifold-based distribution with Wavin TIGRIS wallboxes and manifolds for point-to-point connections to each fixture. |
| Manufacturing or service provision description | The manufacturing process for Wavin Pex-one pipe begins with the co-extrusion of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) granulate and EVOH material into a multilayer pipe through a multi-layer extrusion die. After extrusion, the pipe undergoes crosslinking using the electron beam method (method c / PE-Xc), which creates intermolecular bonds that increase mechanical strength and thermal resistance. The crosslinked pipe is then inserted into a corrugated polyethylene protective conduit before coiling. |

Description of the process flow diagram(s)
The raw materials (HDPE, LLDPE adhesive, EVOH and stabilizer) are transported to the MPC production facility in Poland, where the pipe is manufactured through extrusion, electron-beam crosslinking, and co-extrusion of the EVOH oxygen barrier layer. The Conduit is added after cooling, the pipe is printed, cut to length, and packaged for distribution. Module A4 and modules B1–B7 are not declared. At end of life, the product is directed to incineration (67%) and landfill (33%), with energy recovery benefits reported in module D.

| Brief description of the default scenario in module A5 | Waste treatment of packaging materials |
| Description of the default scenario in module A5 | Module A5 includes the waste treatment of packaging materials generated at the building site after unpacking the product. This covers transport of packaging waste to waste treatment facilities, sorting, recycling, incineration, and landfill of the packaging materials. The installation of the pipe itself is excluded, as it is performed by the client (constructor) and Wavin has no direct control over this process. Waste treatment scenarios are based on European average data. The potential for reuse, recovery and recycling benefits from packaging is reported in module D |

| Description of the default scenario in module C | These lifecycle stages include deconstruction of the pipe system, transport of waste to incineration and sanitary landfill, and disposal of waste in municipal waste incineration plants and sanitary landfill. No recycling of the main product materials is considered. The end-of-life scenario assumes 67% of the product mass is directed to incineration and 33% to landfill, based on the European average waste treatment ratio when recycling is excluded. |

| Brief description of the default scenario in module D | Benefits from energy recovery of incinerated waste |
| Description of the default scenario in module D | Benefits and avoided burdens beyond the system boundary associated with energy recovery from the incineration of polyethylene-based pipe materials. The energy recovery is based on the lower heating value (LHV) of the materials, with an electrical efficiency of 15.0% and a thermal efficiency of 37.1%, derived from the CEWEP Energy Report III for European Waste-to-Energy plants. No recycling benefits are considered for the main product materials. The amount of secondary material input in the product system is 0%, as no post-consumer recycled material is used. |

| Disclaimer 1 | The GWP-GHG indicator is termed GWP-IOBC/GHG in the ILCD+EPD+ data format. The indicator accounts for all greenhouse gases except biogenic carbon dioxide uptake and emissions and biogenic carbon stored in the product. As such, the indicator is identical to GWP-total except that the CF for biogenic CO2 is set to zero. | ||||||||||||||||
