Ownership and limitation on use of EPD
Limitations
EPDs within the same product category but published in different EPD programmes, may not be comparable. For two EPDs to be comparable, they shall be based on the same PCR (including the same first-digit version number) or be based on fully aligned PCRs or versions of PCRs; cover products with identical functions, technical performances and use (e.g. identical declared/functional units); have identical scope in terms of included life-cycle stages (unless the excluded life-cycle stage is demonstrated to be insignificant); apply identical impact assessment methods (including the same version of characterisation factors); and be valid at the time of comparison.
Ownership
The EPD Owner has the sole ownership, liability, and responsibility for the EPD.

Product information
| Product name | AG 16 100/150 |
|---|---|
| Product identification | Asphalt concrete intended for use on roads and other trafficked areas. |
| Product description | The asphalt mixture is produced at the declared plant and consists of mineral rock aggregates, bitumen and additives. Additives may include adhesive agents used to improve adhesion between bitumen and aggregates. The declared product does not contain reclaimed asphalt (RA); recycling is considered only at end of life. |
| Technical purpose of product | Paving of roads and other trafficked areas. |
| Manufacturing or service provision description | At the asphalt plant, the production of a typical asphalt mixture is managed from the on-site control room, where adjustments to individual raw materials are made. Aggregates, obtained either from the on-site quarry or purchased from external suppliers, are stored in stockpiles of different fractions (e.g. 0/4, 4/8 and 8/11). The required aggregate fractions for a given recipe are conveyed to a cold feed bin and transported via a conveyor belt to the drying drum, where the material is dried and heated to the desired temperature. |

| Technology description including background system | The asphalt mixture is produced by drying and heating mineral aggregates and mixing them with bitumen. Energy for the production process at the declared plant is supplied by light fuel oil (LFO) and bio-based oil. The system boundary follows a cradle-to-gate approach with end-of-life modules C1–C4 and module D included. At end-of-life, asphalt is assumed to be almost fully recycled, with minor quality-related losses (<1–10 %) as described in the background report. No packaging is used. |
| Scrap (recycled material) inputs contribution level | Less than 10% of the GWP-GHG results in modules A1-A3 come from scrap inputs |
Data quality assessment
| Description of data quality assessment and reference years | Primary data were collected from the declared asphalt plant during the reference year and reflect current production processes. Data quality is considered high due to direct measurements, consistent documentation, and alignment with the technological and geographical scope of the declared product. |

Default scenario
| Name of the default scenario | Milling and recycling of asphalt without disposal |
|---|---|
| Description of the default scenario | In this scenario, pavement milling of asphalt is performed and the milled material is transported to a waste processing facility, where it is crushed and sieved. The asphalt material is assumed to be fully recyclable and therefore no material is sent to disposal. Environmental impacts related to crushing are reported outside the system boundary in module D to avoid double counting. |

| Brief description of the default scenario in module C | Milling and recycling of asphalt pavement without disposal |
| Description of the default scenario in module C | In this scenario, asphalt pavement is milled at end of life and transported to a waste processing facility, where it is crushed and sieved. The asphalt material is assumed to be recyclable and therefore no material is sent to disposal. Environmental impacts related to crushing are reported outside module C to avoid double counting and are considered in the benefits and loads beyond the system boundary. |
Module D: Beyond product life cycle
| Explanatory name of the default scenario in module D | Recycling potential |
|---|---|
| Brief description of the default scenario in module D | Substitution of virgin materials by recycled asphalt at end of life |
| Description of the default scenario in module D | After the end-of-life stage, asphalt material may be recycled andused as a substitute for virgin aggregates and bitumen in asphalt production. |
