Communication Module

The communication module is a small electronic device that provides hard-wired serial data transfer for automated meter reading using the Kamstrup KMP protocol. It contains galvanic isolation circuitry and allows access to current and historical measurement data without significantly affecting battery life.

The communicational module is part of a modular product system - a thermal energy meter consisting of a calculator unit, ultrasonic flow sensor, paired temperature sensors, a communication module, and a battery power supply. The system measures thermal energy in water-based heating and cooling installations.

The choice of communicational module depends on calculator type and varies between being either wired, wireless and being aimed at utility or industrial purposes. Part of configurable smart thermal meter.
