Plywood
Product information
This sector EPD covers plywood manufactured in Australia from softwood species grown in Australian plantations and hardwood species grown in native Australian forests.
Plywood products are either engineered wood panels (such as structural plywood and formwork plywood) or non-structural panels (such as interior and exterior plywood). This EPD covers a selection of products from both categories.
The declared unit is 1 square metre of plywood. The scope is ‘cradle-to-gate' with options. The production stage includes forestry, log haulage, debarking, conditioning, veneer peeling, drying, sorting, jointing, resin bonding, pressing, finishing, film overlay and packaging. Four end-of-life scenarios are included for all products: two for landfill, one energy recovery, and one for recycling. A reuse scenario is provided for plywood formwork (formply) only.
The document complies with the requirements for an industry-wide EPD under the Green Building Council of Australia's Green Star rating system and the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating scheme of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA).
