Electricity from Vattenfall´s Wind Farms

Vattenfall Wind Power is responsible for the elctricity generation in Vattenfall's wind farms in Denmark, Germany, Poland, Sweden and UK and since early 2009 also in the Netherlands and in Belgium. Installed capacity in 2008 amounted to 615 MW and this wind power portfolio generates in average1,47 TWh electricity annually. The wind power plants operate at wind velocities between 4-25 m/s and generate electricity - generation recalculated to full capacity - in average close to 30 % of the year. To be able to supply electricity continuously wind power must be integrated in a system with other power technologies such as hydropower or thermal power. Wind power is a low carbon technology; it has an obvious visual impact in the landscape and causes some changes in biodiversity.
