Cosentino S.A. issues EPD for ECO

ECO by Cosentino

Cosentino S.A. has issued a EPD for ECO,  a new architectural and decorative surface made up of 75% recycled materials including porcelain, glass, mirrors, or combustion waste in the form of vitrified ash.

Vicinay Cadenas was the first company in the mooring sector to apply for an EPD for one of its products. Prior to registering the EPD, the company worked out a baseline for its environmental impact.

The EPD forms a part of the management’s strategic objective to strengthen its commitment to sustainability. It’s also a way to officially inform the public about our impact on the environment in a rigorous way, says Tomas Lopez, Director of Integrated Management Systems at Vicinay Cadenas.

Vattenfall and Barilla pioneering EPD process certification

Swedish state-owned energy group Vattenfall and Italian pasta company Barilla are the first to conduct an EPD process certification. Compared to a standard EPD it’s the process and not the product that is certified. The main difference between certifying an individual EPD and a process is the review of documents. The process certification requires only one annual audit, rather than individual product audits.

Open consultation - Product Category Rules for Nonwovens and Pasta

Today, the open consultation starts for a two new PCRs for "Nonwovens used for clothing and upholstery" and for "Pasta, cooked, stuffed or otherwise prepared; couscous". Sulzer Ltd have certified three EPDs for pumps. The pumps covered by the EPDs are GSG High Pressure Barrel Pump,  ME 250-350 High Pressure Stage Casing Pump and  MD 150-360 High Pressure Stage Casing Pump.
