Barilla Basilico sauce for Italian market

Product information

Basilico sauce is produced in an owned plant located in Rubbiano (Italy), where the cooking process is very close to what people would do at home.

The process begins by sautéing vegetables in oil, tomato pulp is then poured over the browned vegetables and herbs are added at the end. After cooking, the Basilico sauce is heat treated to pasteurize the product and ensure that flavor and taste are perfectly preserved. Once pasteurized, the sauce is sealed in packages of 400 grams jar, avoiding the need for preservatives. The product is then sold in Italy or exported.
